The game and scoring

Does Mahjong Memory cost anything?

It's completely free, with no download and no sign-up. There's nothing in the game involving money. It's just a fun memory game.

How does scoring work?

Every tile you turn over counts as one flip, and the fewer flips you need to clear the board, the better. If two players have the same number of flips, the faster time wins.

What's the fewest number of flips possible?

The 6 × 6 board has 18 pairs, so if you're lucky enough to match on every single turn, that's 36 flips. With a perfect memory, it takes about 57 flips on average.

What board sizes are there?

Starter 4 × 4, Normal 4 × 6, Hard 6 × 6 and Expert 6 × 8. Every size fits on a phone held upright.

The daily board

When does the daily board reset?

Every day at 00:00 UTC. Everyone in the world plays the same board on the same day.

Can I replay the daily board?

Yes, but only your first finish of the day counts as your daily score. Anything after that is practice.

What do the squares in my shared result mean?

Each square is one turn: green means you made a match, white means you didn't. The more green, the sharper your memory.

Scores and devices

Where are my scores saved?

Only in the browser on this device. Nothing gets uploaded. If you switch devices or clear your browser data, they're gone.

Will there be a leaderboard?

We're planning to add a daily leaderboard later. Before it launches we'll update the privacy policy first, and uploading your scores will be your choice.

Can I play offline?

Yes. After you've played once, add the page to your home screen and it'll open even without an internet connection.
