A Memory Game for Kids and Seniors to Play Together

A lot of games are either too hard or too noisy. Mahjong Memory is the opposite: the only rule is "flip two at a time, keep the ones that match." There's no countdown and no penalty for losing, and a wrong guess just means you flip again. That makes it a great game for the whole family to gather around.

Why it works for the whole family

Playing with kids

  1. Start on the 4 × 4 starter board (8 pairs). A game takes just a few minutes, so kids won't lose interest.
  2. Let your child do the tapping. Your job is just to ask, "Do you remember where that one was?"
  3. Turn on Tile Names mode. When a shows up, say together, "1 of Bamboo, it looks like a little bird!" and learn the tiles along the way.
  4. Stop after a game or two, while they still want to play more.

  3. Play today's daily board together each day and jot your scores in a little notebook. It turns into a nice daily ritual.
  4. Don't worry about the clock. Flip slowly and chat as you go.
